about car.pool

car.pool started 2020 by winning “Vestlandssatsinga” after a hard hitting concert at the show-case festival 100 Dagar in Stord. This gave them the opportunity to play a full summer of festivals in Norway. After a comprehensive spring with both a debut single release and a contiguous tour, suddenly their plans for the summer took a different turn because of the pandemic that took place in March. The band spent the spare time that occurred so abruptly writing new music and preparing for the busy fall.

The band released their third single “Surf” on September 25th. The song is about dreaming away to another place in the world where you’re forced to face reality. It tells a story of a 22-year-old’s thoughts of how – as a grown up – you have to deal with the many challenges in life. Still you desperately run back to the sea to surf on the carefree wave you always longed for.

car.pool has a lot of focus on energetic music, and an entertaining live show. The lyrics are relatable while the music is catchy and gets stuck in your head. Hooks, highkicks and hot guitars, topped off by effortless and limitless powerpop-vocals. All this blends together for a punchy and original sound you didn’t know you were looking for until now.

To this day they have written a lot of original material, played multiple live-session videos, released three singles and held concerts all around Kristiansand, in addition to Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo, Haugesund and Arendal. They’ve also supported bands such as HAJK and Sløtface.

“car.pool plugged in their gear, kickstarted the party and served us a burning concert without a single boring moment. Youthful energy, an apparent love for music and mature skills makes them well equipped to create über-catchy songs. On top lies Ida Sofie Laland’s wild power pop-vocals. The delegates from the many festivals at 100 Dager had no doubt, car.pool is “vestlandssatsinga 2020”. – 100 Dagar

– Guts and charm turned to the max, car.pool is a lovely explosion of 80s pop and modern rock. Best served live, Øystein Vaage Tysnesfest.
